Yes, visits are possible and many travellers from Germany are going again. At the same time an official travel warning remains in place. The decision is yours and should be based on current information and insurance that actually covers Syria.

How do I get a Syria visa?

Either through a Syrian diplomatic mission or through an entry permit prepared by a local partner and issued on arrival. For our groups the second route is standard. Allow three to four weeks.

How do I travel from Germany to Syria?

A direct flight to Damascus where available, or a flight to Beirut or Amman followed by a land transfer across the border. Beirut to Damascus takes two to four hours.

Typically 1,000 to 1,900 EUR per person for seven to twelve days including accommodation, transport and guiding, excluding international flights, which add around 350 to 700 EUR.

Many women travel in our groups. The usual guidance applies: modest clothing, avoid being out alone at night, and travel with local support – all of which a group covers well.
